To make a day of it

Schloss Oranienburg stands in Oranienburg (Landkreis Oberhavel), in Brandenburg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Adult admission costs 8 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Oranienburg Palace stands in Oranienburg, in the Landkreis Oberhavel, Brandenburg, on an island in the Havel river where a medieval stronghold once stood before an electoral hunting lodge. Regarded as the oldest Baroque building in Brandenburg, it was constructed between 1651 and 1655 for Louise Henriette of Orange-Nassau, wife of the Great Elector, in a style shaped by Dutch classicism. It was later enlarged under her son Frederick III, who became king in Prussia, and received a lavish interior of which notable pieces such as the porcelain cabinet survive. After serving various purposes in the twentieth century, including as barracks, a police academy and a military garrison, the building now houses a museum.
