To make a day of it
Schloss Landestrost stands in Neustadt am Rübenberge (Region Hannover), in Lower Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Landestrost stands in Neustadt am Rübenberge, on a natural mound that had already carried a medieval stronghold. Built between 1573 and 1584 for Duke Eric II of Brunswick-Lüneburg, it displays the Weser Renaissance style, with its staircase towers and richly carved sandstone portals. Only two of the four originally planned wings were completed, since the duke died before the works were finished. Now owned by a cultural foundation, the building houses public offices while remaining a rare example of a 16th-century urban fortress residence.
