To make a day of it
Burg Bordenau stands in Neustadt am Rübenberge (Region Hannover), in Lower Saxony, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.
Burg Bordenau, also known as Alte Burg, was a thirteenth century lowland castle north of the Bordenau district of Neustadt am Rübenberge, in Lower Saxony. Founded by the counts of Roden based in Wunstorf, it appears in records between 1299 and 1388, passing under the authority of the duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg and later into the hands of the von Mandelsloh and von Campe families. No structural remains survive, and its exact location has not been confirmed with certainty, although a sandy mound north of Lake Bordenau, known locally as the Borgstelle, is thought to mark the site. The seat was later moved to the location of today's Gut Scharnhorst, the birthplace of the future general Gerhard von Scharnhorst in 1755.
