Schloss Krickenbeck stands in Nettetal (Kreis Viersen), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 13th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Krickenbeck stands amid the lakes that bear its name, on the edge of the Lower Rhine region. Built in the 13th century as a moated stronghold, it went through several architectural transformations, from a medieval fortress to a baroque manor house, then to the neo-Gothic castle commissioned by the von Schaesberg family in the 19th century. A fire in 1902 destroyed that building, which was replaced by the three-winged neo-Renaissance structure visible today. Its history includes military sieges, various occupations and long periods of neglect.
