Schloss Landsberg stands in Ratingen (Kreis Mettmann), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 13th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Standing on a spur above the Ruhr valley, on the boundary between Ratingen and Essen, Schloss Landsberg combines a massive medieval keep with residential buildings reshaped in later centuries and again around 1903. The site was first fortified in the late 13th century to guard a strategic bridge over the Ruhr, later becoming the seat of the Landsberg lords and then the residence of industrialist August Thyssen. Its stone keep, partly preserved curtain wall and 17th century gabled manor house reflect these successive building phases. Surrounded by a landscape park, the estate now belongs to a family foundation and is used as a seminar venue.
