To make a day of it

Schloss Linnep stands in Ratingen (Kreis Mettmann), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Linnep is a moated castle south of the Breitscheid district of Ratingen. Its history goes back to a knights' seat first recorded at the end of the 11th century, though the present building dates from a 1769 reconstruction that incorporated the round tower and the surrounding wall of the older structure. A broad staircase now crosses the moat to reach the main house, fronted by a fortified outer courtyard with a gate and former farm buildings. Nearby stand a 17th-century Reformed church and a half-timbered former mill building.
