To make a day of it
Schloss Kransberg stands in Usingen (Hochtaunuskreis), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Kransberg Castle overlooks the village of Kransberg, part of Usingen, in the Hochtaunuskreis district of Hesse. Built around 1170 as a Staufer stronghold, it passed through numerous owners over eight centuries before taking on an unusual role in the twentieth century: a military headquarters for the Nazi regime known as Adlerhorst, and later an Allied interrogation centre where German scientists and industrialists were held after 1945. The Romanesque keep still stands, surrounded by structures altered over time, including a late 19th century neo-Gothic renovation.
