Built from 1565 onward in Renaissance style by the imperial knight Kaspar Nothaft, it passed through many hands over the centuries before becoming a private residence. Remnants of the earlier stronghold can still be found among the surrounding vineyards, near the viewpoint known as the Aussichtsplatte.
