To make a day of it
Schloss Hückeswagen stands in Hückeswagen (Oberbergischer Kreis), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 12th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Hückeswagen Castle stands on a rocky spur in the middle of the town of Hückeswagen, in the Oberbergischer Kreis. Its history goes back to the 12th century, when a fortress belonging to local counts already occupied the site, first recorded as castrum Hukingiswage in 1189. The most recognisable part of the complex is its keep, known as the Schelmenturm, the scoundrels' tower, which lost much of its original height during work carried out in the early 19th century. For many years the building housed the town administration and a local history museum.
