Schloss Herdringen stands in Arnsberg (Hochsauerlandkreis), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 19th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
North Rhine-Westphalia's Hochsauerlandkreis is home to Schloss Herdringen, located in Arnsberg and regarded as an important example of Gothic Revival architecture applied to a secular building in Westphalia. Ernst Friedrich Zwirner, known for his work on Cologne Cathedral, designed the current structure, erected between 1844 and 1853 on the site of a moated manor documented since 1376. Owned by the von Fürstenberg family from the early 1600s onward, the property features a chapel, landscaped grounds spanning more than a hundred hectares created by Jakob Greiß, and a great hall called the Königssaal, named for a royal visit by Friedrich Wilhelm IV in 1853. The interior still preserves family holdings, among them fragments of the old Fürstenberg book collection and a set of Flemish and Dutch paintings.
