Haus Westhemmerde is a former noble moated residence in Westhemmerde, a district of Unna in North Rhine-Westphalia. Its history traces back to the late 14th century, and the current main building was raised as a Wasserschloss by the von dem Broel family, called Plater, in the 15th century. The estate was later extended by the Vogt von Elspe family and then by the von Bodelschwingh-Plettenberg and von Romberg families, before passing in 1955 to the Schulte family, its owners to this day. What remains today is a carefully restored house, both inside and on its facade, surrounded by a moat lined with reeds and water lilies.
