Schloss Fußberg stands on a bend of the Würm river, just north of the old town center of Gauting. The present building dates from 1721, when the abbots of Andechs Abbey had an earlier fortified manor, first recorded in the 14th century, rebuilt as a baroque country residence. Today it is a three-storey hip-roofed house set within an English-style landscape park that is open to the public, along with a former coach house and a garden pavilion called the Salettl. The main house itself, now used as office space, is not open to visitors, but the surrounding grounds can be freely explored.
