To make a day of it

Burgstall Andechs stands in Andechs (Landkreis Starnberg), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Burgstall Andechs refers to the remains of a former medieval hilltop fortification, now vanished, located near Andechs in Bavaria. The site takes the form of a ring-shaped rampart and ditch, traces of which are still visible in the terrain. It should not be confused with the later Burg Andechs, which once stood on the site of today's Kloster Andechs, and for this reason the older site is also called the "Alte Burg". A visit mainly means a walk through a wooded, hilly landscape, away from the crowds at the nearby monastery.
