Schloss Rezensried stands in the hamlet of Ried, part of the municipality of Herrsching am Ammersee, close to the eastern shore of the Ammersee. The present building dates in its core to the 16th century and was raised by one storey in 1692 under the architect Giovanni Antonio Viscardi, who also designed the monastery buildings at Fürstenfeld. Until secularization in 1803 it served as the summer residence of the abbots of Kloster Fürstenfeld. The house is a three-storey structure with a mansard roof, reached by a central corridor with a barrel-vaulted ground floor passage and a stuccoed ceiling from 1692 upstairs, while the St. Michael chapel was attached on the east side as early as 1572.
