Schloss Dätzingen stands at the heart of the village of Dätzingen, part of the municipality of Grafenau. Built on the site of a house of the Knights of St John first recorded in 1263, the present building was enlarged in 1733 and later reshaped in a classical style in the early 19th century, forming a four-winged complex around a courtyard. It now houses the local history museum, a gallery, and a Maltese Hall decorated with 18th-century battle paintings. The castle also keeps sections of an early 19th-century Parisian panoramic wallpaper recalling a royal hunt held there in 1810.
