To make a day of it

Schloss Berthelsdorf stands in Herrnhut (Landkreis Görlitz), in Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 18th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Berthelsdorf stands in Herrnhut, in the Landkreis Görlitz, in Saxony. This manor house owes its present form to Nikolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf, who had it rebuilt between 1721 and 1724 on older foundations, giving it a symmetrical seven bay courtyard facade. It was from here that the count granted shelter to Moravian refugees, the origin of the Moravian Church, and the house later served as the spiritual centre of the community during his final years. Left to decay for decades under agricultural use, the building remains tied to the history of Herrnhut, now part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing.
