The Neues Schloss Hainewalde stands on a hillside above the Mandau river, in a Saxon municipality within the Landkreis Görlitz. Built in Baroque style in the mid 18th century for the von Kanitz family, it replaced a neighbouring Renaissance castle of which only the gatehouse wing survives. A five tiered terrace links the valley floor to the main facade, whose portal is framed by Tuscan columns beneath the combined coats of arms of the von Kanitz and von Kyaw families. Restored gradually since the early 2000s, the building is opened to visitors through guided tours arranged by a local heritage association.
