Schloss Balgstädt, also known as Wasserschloss Balgstädt, stands in the municipality of Verbandsgemeinde Unstruttal, in the Burgenlandkreis, in Saxony-Anhalt. This large two-winged baroque building, topped with a steep hipped roof and marked by an octagonal stair tower, replaced an earlier structure destroyed in 1397 and was built in the 17th century. Remodelled from 1744 onward by its owner Ernst Sperling, it has kept this appearance ever since. The building today houses the local municipal office, a childcare facility, and the office of a regional leisure and tourism association.
