Rudelsburg stands in Naumburg (Saale) (Burgenlandkreis), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Rudelsburg stands on a rocky spur above the Saale valley, facing the neighbouring ruin of Saaleck. Founded by the bishops of Naumburg in the High Middle Ages to guard trade routes such as the Via Regia, it later became a point of contention between the bishopric and the margraves of Meissen. Destroyed during the Thirty Years' War, the ruin was rediscovered in the 19th century as a romantic excursion destination and, from 1855, as the annual meeting place of Kösen student fraternities. Visitors today find a Romanesque keep topped with a pyramidal roof, remains of the great hall, and a large outer bailey barely recognisable after serving as a quarry in the 18th century.
