To make a day of it
Ringwall Grünbürg stands in Stadtsteinach (Landkreis Kulmbach), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Ringwall Grünbürg is a vanished early medieval hillfort rising above Stadtsteinach in Upper Franconia. Visitors can still trace three concentric earthen ramparts enclosing an oval plateau roughly 155 by 85 metres, set on a hilltop naturally shielded on three sides by steep slopes. Archaeologists now date its construction to the 8th to 10th centuries, the Carolingian and Ottonian period, after decades of debate over its age. No signs of buildings have been found on the plateau itself, suggesting the site served primarily as a refuge and defensive stronghold rather than a dwelling.
