The Lobdeburg is a ruined castle on a spur of the Wöllmisse plateau, between the Jena districts of Lobeda and Drackendorf. The name actually applies to three separate structures, an upper, a middle and a lower castle, but it is the middle one that is regarded as the true Lobdeburg and that visitors can see today. From its elevated position it once allowed views over the middle Saale valley, the Rodatal and the Leutratal. Its residential tower now includes a viewing platform added during recent restoration work.
