To make a day of it

Kropsburg stands in Sankt Martin (Landkreis Südliche Weinstraße), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Kropsburg rises above the wine-growing village of Sankt Martin, where the Pfälzerwald forest meets the Rhine plain. Built around 1200 by the Hohenstaufen to help shield the imperial Trifels castle, it was destroyed in 1689 during the War of the Palatine Succession and never rebuilt in its original form. In 1771 a descendant of the Dalberg family erected a manor house on the ruins of the lower castle, which later served as a restaurant. The ruin itself is no longer open to visitors, though an establishment in the outer courtyard still offers views over the Rhine plain.
