The Krenkinger Schloss stands at the southern edge of Engen's old town, its two wings having taken their present form mainly through building work in the 16th and 19th centuries. First recorded in the 15th century as Krenkingen, it passed through several owners, was set ablaze during the Thirty Years' War, and was looted by French troops in 1800. The building now houses a forestry office and is not set up as a public visitor site.
