To make a day of it

Jagdschloss Eulbach stands in Würzberg (Odenwaldkreis), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 18th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Jagdschloss Eulbach stands in a wooded setting of the Odenwald, within the municipality of Würzberg. Originally built as a hunting lodge in 1771 for Count Franz zu Erbach-Erbach, it was expanded into a proper residence in 1846 under Count Eberhardt. The estate also includes a forester's house and stables, together with an English-style garden laid out around 1805 next to a pond. The comital family used it as a summer residence, in a landscape once known for its deer, boar and other game.

What to know

  • The site lies in a remote hamlet of the Odenwald, close to Würzberg and Michelstadt.

  • No opening hours, fees or access details are confirmed, so it is best to check locally before visiting.
  • The place suits a walk through the English-style garden rather than an organised indoor tour.
