Burg Breuberg stands in Neustadt (Odenwaldkreis), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Breuberg stands on a 306 metre hill above the town of Neustadt in the Odenwald, in northern Hesse. Founded around 1200 by the Abbey of Fulda to secure its holdings in the region, it survives in a condition that makes it one of the best preserved fortresses in southern Hesse. The keep and the late Romanesque gateway of the inner castle date from this earliest building phase, while the Gothic and Renaissance structures reflect its later use as a residence for various noble families. Visitors today can see remains from these different periods, and the castle also houses a youth hostel and the museum of the Breuberg-Bund.
