The Herzog-Max-Palais was a neoclassical town palace built between 1828 and 1831 in Munich's Ludwigstraße for Duke Maximilian Joseph in Bavaria, brother-in-law of King Ludwig I. Princess Elisabeth in Bavaria, later Empress of Austria known as Sisi, was born here in 1837.
