Haus Ruhr stands in Schwerte (Kreis Unna), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 15th century. No visits are on record for this building.
Haus Ruhr is a former moated castle, a Wasserburg, situated close to where the Wannebach flows into the Ruhr, in the Schwerte-Wandhofen area. Founded in the 15th century, it kept its defensive character in outline, though the buildings seen today date from the 17th and 19th centuries. Its courtyard holds one of the oldest horse chestnut trees in North Rhine-Westphalia, over two hundred years old, with several stories attached to its origin. A landscape park laid out in the English style in the 19th century surrounds the buildings.
