To make a day of it
Fürstenhof stands in Wismar (Landkreis Nordwestmecklenburg), in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Fürstenhof stands right next to St. George's Church on the site of the former residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg in Wismar. The complex combines two building phases: an older late Gothic wing from the early 16th century and a Renaissance building commissioned decades later by Duke Johann Albrecht I, whose facades carry terracotta ornamentation regarded as a landmark of German Renaissance architecture. In the inner courtyard, one window axis has been repainted to show something of the original colour scheme. The building now houses the Wismar district court and is not open as a museum, though its facades can be viewed from the street.
