Schloss Gadebusch stands in Gadebusch (Landkreis Nordwestmecklenburg), in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Gadebusch stands on the Schlossberg, on the site of a medieval stronghold that itself grew out of a fortified Slavic settlement dating to the 8th century. The present building, erected in the early 1570s for Christoph of Mecklenburg, administrator of the bishopric of Ratzeburg, ranks among the rare surviving examples of North German brick Renaissance architecture. Its façades display an unusually rich decoration of terracotta relief panels depicting biblical scenes, produced by a Lübeck workshop also responsible for similar work at Schwerin Palace. Over the centuries the building served as a princely residence, an administrative seat, a museum, a boarding school and later a courthouse, and it has been under restoration since 2020.
