Ehemaliges Schloss, jetzt zum Teil Mietparteienhaus stands in Röckingen (Landkreis Ansbach), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Röckingen stands on the site of a medieval motte, at the northeastern edge of the village of Röckingen. The present building dates from 1572, erected after a violent episode in its history: the murder of his own wife by the lord Hans Schenk von Schenkenstein inside the earlier structure. Later acquired by the margraves of Ansbach and converted into a tithe barn, it now functions as a residential building. Visitors mainly see a two-storey main house with a stepped gable roof and quoined corners, linked by an enclosing wall to two outbuildings.

What to know

  • Visitors can only view the building from outside, especially its stepped gable facade.
  • The former moat and rampart surrounding the site have largely been filled in over time.
  • The building is listed as a Baudenkmal in Bavaria.
  • As no opening hours, fees or visitor facilities exist, this is an outdoor, self-guided viewing only.
