The Burgstall Winken marks the site of a vanished medieval hilltop castle, set at 625 metres above sea level on a terrace overlooking the Hirschbach stream, near the hamlet of Röthardt in the Wasseralfingen district of Aalen. No written records survive to date its construction, but the site is linked to the lords of Winken, a family also recorded under the names von den Winken or von Winkental. Visitors can still trace the outline of two successive ditches that once divided an outer bailey from the main fortified area, along with faint ground features hinting at former buildings.
