To make a day of it

Burgruine Wolfsberg (Obertrubach) stands in Obertrubach (Landkreis Forchheim), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 12th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Burgruine Wolfsberg stands on a rocky spur 436 metres above the Trubach valley, overlooking the village of the same name in the municipality of Obertrubach. Built around 1150 by the free lords of Wolfsberg, it later passed to the lords of Stein, then to the Egloffstein family, before becoming property of the Bishopric of Bamberg. Repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt during various conflicts, it was eventually dismantled stone by stone in the 19th century after being sold to a stonemason. Only the upper bailey survives today, freely accessible and used as a viewpoint over the valley.
