To make a day of it
Burgruine Neideck stands in Wiesenttal (Landkreis Forchheim), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Admission is free. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Neideck ruined castle stands above the village of Streitberg and the Wiesent valley, in the heart of Franconian Switzerland. Built on a rocky spur, this former medieval stronghold was destroyed in 1553 and never rebuilt. Its Romanesque tower house, now restored and secured, serves as a viewpoint over the valley, while an archaeological park traces the layout of the moats, walls and artillery towers.
