Burgruine Hohenberneck stands in Bad Berneck im Fichtelgebirge (Landkreis Bayreuth), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Burgruine Hohenberneck crowns a rocky spur above Bad Berneck im Fichtelgebirge, overlooking the town's spa gardens. Built at the very end of the 15th century for Veit von Wallenrode and completed by Albrecht von Wirsberg before passing to the margraves of Brandenburg-Kulmbach, it served briefly as an administrative seat before falling gradually into ruin from the 18th century onward. Visitors can still make out the late Gothic drawbridge, the massive northwestern artillery tower known locally as the Hungerturm, and the remains of the residential hall with its loopholed curtain wall. The town of Bad Berneck has owned the site since 1872 and carried out major stabilisation works between 2017 and 2022.
