To make a day of it

Burg Zusameck stands in Dinkelscherben (Landkreis Augsburg), in Bavaria, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Burg Zusameck sits on a wooded hill above Dinkelscherben in Bavaria, where scattered remains are almost all that is left of a medieval stronghold. First built in the early Middle Ages on a site inhabited since Neolithic times, it was destroyed and rebuilt more than once before being abandoned and torn down in the early nineteenth century. Only the Gothic chapel, later reworked in neo-Gothic style around 1850, survived, now standing alongside a Way of the Cross and a Calvary group placed on the mound where the keep once stood. Excavations and restoration by a local heritage association have uncovered a stretch of the old wall and brought the historic well back into usable condition.
