Schloss Reisensburg stands on a hill above the Danube near Günzburg, on a site recorded as a stronghold since the early Middle Ages. In the 10th century it belonged to Berthold von Reisensburg, a descendant of the Luitpolding ducal family exiled from Bavaria, and the building was later rebuilt several times after destruction before being converted into a schloss in the 16th century. Having passed through several noble families and been sold in the 20th century, it now houses a scientific conference centre run by the University of Ulm.
