To make a day of it

Schloss Leipheim stands in Leipheim (Landkreis Günzburg), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Leipheim stands above the town on a steep slope at its western edge, its oversized roofs and tall gables the result of a building forced to grow upward on older foundations. The ground floor dates back to the 11th century, while the present Renaissance structure was raised at the end of the 16th century. The complex still has its enclosing wall with several round towers topped by pointed roofs, along with a walled forecourt and a garden sloping down to the north and west. The coat of arms of the lords of Güssen, the castle's first masters, remains visible on the south-eastern gable.
