Burg Waldeck (Schwarzwald) stands in Calw (Landkreis Calw), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 12th century. Admission is free. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Perched on a rocky spur above the Nagold valley at 410 metres, the Burg Waldeck survives only as a ruin, though a legible one: remains of the residential building, the keep and several outer walls stretch across roughly 180 metres of ridge. The site was once the seat of the Waldeck lords, whose growing power in the 13th century provoked two sieges by their overlords. The Black Forest has reclaimed part of the grounds, but the walls can still be explored on foot.
Written from Waldeck Castle (Black Forest)
