Burg Stein stands in Bad Cannstatt (Stuttgart), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.
Stein Castle once stood in the old town of Bad Cannstatt, between what are now Finstermünzgasse, Helfergasse and Spreuergasse, but nothing of it remains today. Originating as an early medieval motte, it was likely the seat of the now extinct noble family von Stein. It was destroyed in 1287 during a punitive campaign by King Rudolf of Habsburg against Count Eberhard of Württemberg, then rebuilt in an altered form before passing through many owners and rebuildings. The last surviving remnant, a massive cellar beneath a building on Helfergasse, was destroyed in 1943 and the cellar itself removed during postwar reconstruction.
