Burg Schlanstedt stands at the southwestern edge of the village of Schlanstedt, part of the municipality of Huy. Founded in the 11th century by the lords of Schlanstedt to guard a crossing over the Große Bruch, it passed through many hands over the centuries, from the diocese of Halberstadt to the electors of Brandenburg, before becoming a Renaissance residence built onto the medieval stronghold in the 17th century. Its 11th-century round Romanesque keep, 25 metres tall, still towers over the grounds, alongside the remains of a gate tower, a 24-metre-deep well and a dungeon.
