To make a day of it

Burg Scheventorf stands in Bad Iburg (Landkreis Osnabrück), in Lower Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

On the southern edge of Bad Iburg, Burg Scheventorf is a former moated manor built in Renaissance style. It still holds, in the timber-framed link between the main house and the former prisoners' tower, a structure dated to 1552 and regarded as the oldest surviving half-timbered building in the Osnabrück region. The estate takes its name from the von Scheventorf family before passing to the von Hake family, who held it for several generations. A local legend, later retold in a 1924 novel, tells of a young woman said to have been walled in alive here during the Thirty Years' War.
