Castle Ropperhausen is a ruined spur castle standing northeast of Großropperhausen, on a rocky ridge above the Ohebach stream. Built most likely by the lords of Heimbach and later held by the von Gilsa family, it lost its defensive function in the early eighteenth century once its owners turned to a manorial estate built southeast of the village. What survives today is part of the residential tower, fragments of the surrounding wall, and the eastern ditch, still clearly traceable in the landscape.
