Burg Neu-Waldeck, also known as Schloss Tegernau, is a vanished hilltop castle standing at 455 metres on a long rocky spur southwest of Tegernau. The site belonged to the lords of Waldeck before being granted to the Bishop of Basel in the 12th century. What remains today are archaeological traces only: three neck ditches and fragments of a medieval enclosure wall. Historians still debate whether this spot or the nearby Krandelburg actually corresponds to the castle recorded as Neu-Waldeck.
