To make a day of it
Burg Lüdinghausen stands in Lüdinghausen (Kreis Coesfeld), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 13th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Lüdinghausen is a moated castle in the town of Lüdinghausen, built on the remains of a medieval stronghold first recorded in the 13th century. The present main wing, raised in Renaissance style after a fire in 1569, still stands on the old foundations, surrounded by an extensive network of moats once linked to the town's fortifications. Visitors can see the marked outline of the former keep set into the courtyard paving, along with 16th century inscriptions and coats of arms on the facade. The building now functions as a cultural venue with meeting rooms rather than as a museum.
What to know
- The castle now serves as a cultural venue and meeting space, which limits free access to the interior.

- The site is close to Burg Vischering, in the same Kreis, making it easy to combine both visits.
- Access is on foot around the moats and courtyard, with no particular physical difficulty noted.
