To make a day of it

Burg Linden stands in Hochdorf (Landkreis Biberach), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

Burg Linden was a moated stronghold built on a small peninsula within the Lindenweiher, near the hamlet of Unteressendorf in the municipality of Hochdorf. Raised around 1214, it passed through the hands of the Schenken von Winterstetten, then the Schad zur Linden family, and later the lords of Essendorf, before being destroyed in 1525. A hexagonal residential tower is thought to have stood there, though nothing of the original structure remains visible today.

What to know

  • No structure from the original stronghold has survived, so there are no historic buildings to tour on site.
  • The location lies on a small peninsula within the Lindenweiher, a body of water near Unteressendorf.
  • No verified information is available regarding opening hours, admission fees, or dedicated visitor access.
  • A visit therefore amounts to a walk around the Lindenweiher area rather than a tour of standing ruins.
