Schloss Ummendorf stands in Ummendorf, in the Landkreis Biberach, in Baden-Württemberg. This Renaissance building was erected in the 16th century for Matthias Manlich, a wealthy merchant and imperial councillor from Augsburg who sought to assert his social standing among the rural nobility through the construction of the house. Inside, a remarkably well-preserved vaulted entrance hall leads up to a first-floor ceiling covered in 18th-century stucco work, with rocaille and ribbon ornaments and animal figures, created by the stuccoist Gaspare Mohla. The surrounding garden still follows the threefold Renaissance layout of orchard, vegetable garden and pleasure garden.
