Burg Frauenstein is a vanished rock castle whose remains lie near the village of Ruppertsecken, in the Donnersbergkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate. What survives of the structure is buried in the garden of a private property, atop a rock outcrop known as the 'Freistein', cut off from the rest of the ridge by a trench hewn into the stone. Traces found underground point to a modest manor house surrounded by a ring wall rather than a full fortress.
