Burg Buttenhausen is a ruined stronghold set on a rocky spur roughly 665 metres above sea level, overlooking St Michael's church in the village of Buttenhausen, part of Münsingen. What remains of the medieval fortification now forms the boundary wall of the cemetery occupying the site. Visitors can see fragments of the polygonal enclosure walls, reinforced with buttresses up to five metres high on the valley side, while the ditch and shield wall facing the plateau have vanished entirely.
