Alt-Scharfeneck Castle is a medieval ruin standing on a rocky spur 363 metres high, overlooking the Hainbach valley in the Palatinate Forest. Likely built between 1100 and 1130 during the Salian imperial period, it was abandoned once Neuscharfeneck Castle took over its role and fell into decay by the 15th century. Only scattered wall remains and foundations survive, rediscovered through excavations beginning in the 1950s. Although privately owned, the site can be freely visited.
