To make a day of it

Alte Burg (Demmingen) stands in Dischingen (Landkreis Heidenheim), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

Southwest of Demmingen, within the municipality of Dischingen, a nearly circular conical hill marks the archaeological remains of the Alte Burg. The counts of Dillingen had it constructed during the 13th century, and ownership subsequently shifted to the lords of Hürnheim, then to the Fugger counts, until its destruction just before 1551 and its demolition between 1570 and 1572. No visible structure survives on the site; surviving documentation only mentions a tower house measuring 6.6 by 10.3 metres with walls 1.72 metres thick. Visitors today can only explore the bare hilltop where the castle once stood.
